A STREAKER turned State of Origin III into an embarrassing farce as Queensland secured an historic eighth successive series.

With three minutes remaining and the Maroons ahead 12-10, a streaker ran 140 metres from the western end of the arena to interrupt play, where Queensland was attacking the NSW tryline at the northern end.

He was tackled to the ground by security as play went around them.

It was farcical for the game and for ANZ Stadium security.

There was $20 million worth of talent standing around while a streaker was laying on the grass.

The Maroons actually crossed through prop Matt Scott but the try was disallowed because of the impact the streaker had on play.

Play was suspended while up to six security guards held the streaker down.

He was eventually escorted from the field.

No team scored in the remaining few minutes, Queensland hanging on for a 12-10 win.
